Glory Foods, Inc. Introduces “Race To Feeding America” Campaign At Irwin Tools Night Race in Bristol

Aug. 23, 2012, Columbus, Ohio – Representatives of Glory Foods, Inc. today announced the company is bringing its “Race To Feeding America” campaign to Bristol, Tenn., for the IRWIN Tools Night Race Sat., Aug. 25. In July, Glory Foods launched the campaign with Front Row Motorsports and Feeding America. Glory Foods is sponsoring Front Row Motorsports entries in Bristol, Atlanta (Sept. 2) and Charlotte, N.C. (Oct. 13), in which cash and canned goods will be donated through the campaign (www.racetofeedingamerica.org) to Feeding America, the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief charity, to support child hunger efforts.

 

Glory Foods’ primary sponsorship during the “Race To Feeding America” campaign is of two Front Row Motorsport entries: the No. 34 of David Ragan and the No. 38 of David Gilliland.

 

On Thursday, Aug. 23, the company, along with Ragan, will be at the 25th Anniversary of Food City Race Night on State Street TN/VA to present a donation to Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee and Feeding America Southwest Virginia at the 25th Anniversary Food City Race Night on State Street TN/VA. Steve Smith, president and CEO of Food City, will be on hand with Ragan for the check presentation.

 

“We believe our ‘Race To Feeding America’ campaign will help Feeding America get food to children in need across the country,” said Dan Charna, vice president of operations for Glory Foods, who is also attending Food City Race Night. “Nearly 16 million children in the United States don’t know where their next meal is coming from. Glory Foods wants to do what it can to reduce those numbers and help ensure no child goes to bed hungry.”

 

Glory Foods will donate to Feeding America enough money and food to exceed its campaign goal of 500,000 meals to children nationwide. If either Ragan or Gilliland wins the Bank of America 500 on Oct. 13 in Charlotte, the company will give $1 million to Feeding America.

 

“We are excited about bringing our campaign to Bristol, where there is a thriving NASCAR community galvanized by enthusiastic fans,” Charna said. “We want them to assist us in helping Feeding America. They can go to the campaign’s website, www.racetofeedingamerica.org, to make a donation to Feeding America. Or, they may support the cause by giving to Feeding America food banks in the race cities.”

 

As part of the campaign, fans that register at www.racetofeedingamerica.org are eligible to win two hot passes to the 2013 Coca-Cola 600 in May at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

 

“Although the racing leg of our campaign will end Oct. 13 in Charlotte, our campaign will continue until March 31, 2013,” Charna said. “All of us at Glory Foods, Front Row Motorsports and Feeding America believe that with Bristol on board we have the potential to make a tremendous impact in the lives of countless children.”
