Glory Foods $1 Million NASCAR Challenge

September 26, 2012

David Ragan and David Gilliland are teammates and friends.

However, on October 13 at the Bank of America 500, they will have a friendly, but competitive, face-off in hopes of winning $1 million from Glory Foods, Inc. to benefit Feeding America’s efforts to get nourishment to children nationwide.

If either driver wins the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event in Charlotte, N.C., at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Glory foods will donate $1 million to Feeding America, the leading domestic hunger-relief charity in the United States. The gift from Glory Foods can provide 8 million meals for children.

The race within a race featuring Ragan and Gilliland is a part of the “Race To Feeding America” campaign, officially launched in July by Glory Foods.

Glory Foods’ primary sponsorship is of two Front Row Motorsports entries: the No. 34 of Ragan and the No. 38 of Gilliland in 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series events in Daytona, Fla. (July 7), Bristol, Tenn. (Aug. 25), Atlanta (Sept.2) and Charlotte (Oct. 13), where the campaign will reach its thrilling climax.

“The anticipation level is off of the chart,” said Dan Charna, vice president of operations for Glory Foods. “All of us at Glory Foods and Front Row Motorsports are excited about the Bank of America 500 because we know it can potentially impact the lives of millions of children in the United States, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, all of which are served by Feeding America.”

During the “Race To Feeding America” campaign, Glory Foods will exceed its campaign goal by donating more than 500,000 meals to Feeding America in food and funds.

Glory Foods has already donated canned goods to several member food banks of Feeding America, including Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina in Charlotte, Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee in Gray, Tenn., and Feeding America Southwest Virginia in Abingdon, Va.

“Through the Racing To Feeding America campaign, we are helping raise awareness about child hunger,” Charna said. “Each year, Feeding America supplies nearly 14 million children with food; therefore, our unified work will assist in ensuring children get the meals they need.”

NASCAR fans and fans of Glory Foods are helping the “Race To Feeding America” campaign by donating to Feeding America at, where they can also register to win hot passes to the Coca-Cola 600 on May 26, 2013, at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
