A Red, White & Blue Holiday

Red, White & Blue Taco Salad

Since 1776, 4th of July has been celebrated as the birth of American independence. Folks normally honor this patriotic holiday with fireworks, family gatherings, festivals and parades, and many of those celebrations have a common color scheme - red, white & blue.

From red, white & blue striped cheesecake to strawberry, blueberry & marshmallow kabobs, the possibilities for delicious patriotic foods are endless! I've seen delicious layered punches, colorful pastas, firework cakes, and even American flag inspired pizzas.

Popular decor and craft trends are just as fun. Fun DIY projects that are kid-friendly are a great route to take. Check out these Mason jar centerpieces made using only rice, food coloring and candles, or these DIY star-shaped chalks.

With 4th of July right around the corner, Glory Foods wanted in on this whole red, white & blue trend too! We worked with recipe developer and competitive chef, Michaela Rosenthal, to create an easy lunch or dinner dish that can easily be doubled for a crowd. Get the recipe for our Red, White & Blue Taco Salad below and happy 4th of July from Glory Foods!

  • blue corn tortilla chips for serving
  • Optional: 2-3 slices white cheese if you wish to cut out stars for decoration

  2. Stir in the chili mix, vegetable juice and tomatoes; simmer for 15 minutes then add the Glory Foods Seasoned Red Beans and black beans. Continue to simmer on low heat for another 30 minutes (stirring occasionally).
