A Healthy & Delicious Meal

Looking for a healthy meal for your family?  How about a heart healthy meal that tastes good too! Despite what you may think, you can prepare a healthy supper that is also delicious. 

Lets start with the meat.  Making the meat portion of your meal healthy is actually quite simple when following a few rules.  When buying meat, always look for a lean cut.  Lean cuts of beef and poultry are lower in fat.  Lean cuts of beef include round, chuck, sirloin and tenderloin.  With all meat, it is essential to cut off any visible fat and skin (poultry) before cooking.  When working with ground beef or other ground meat, purchase those that are at least 90% lean meat.  This ensures there isn’t any skin, fat, or other undesirable parts mixed in.

When cooking, it is ok to marinate poultry, but try to use low-fat marinades, preferably homemade using wine, citrus, and other spices.  Meats should also be cooked in areas that allow additional fat to melt away.  Men will love this fact because the grill is the perfect place to cook a healthy, delicious piece of meat.
